Head of the Department
The Department of E&CE has well qualified, passionate and research oriented faculty.The areas of research includes Nanotechnology, Image Processing, Communication, control & optimization using soft computing.The Department attracts the best of students from all part of India.. The Department has more than 30staff members who encourage the students to take up mini projects and participate in various seminars/ paper presentation contests.The Department works with the objective of addressing critical challenges faced by the Industry, Society and the Academia. The Department Faculty work with excellent team spirit in different technical fields like RF Electronics, Communication, Signal processing, VLSI, Embedded System, Wireless Sensor Network which leads to key research publications in these areas.
The Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering(ECE) has excellent faculty and has state of art labs. The students are exposed to industry as we have experts from different industries addressing our students. The industrial visits make it is easy for the students to understand and adapt for their future endeavors. The ECE students have secured VTU ranks. The students of VIII Sem recently won second place at state level VTU project exhibition. Some projects were also sponsored by KSCST.
There is a departmental library which has approximately 900 books used by the faculty and students for reference. Currently the intake of department is 180 students.

Professional Skills: An ability to understand the basic concepts in Electronics & Communication Engineering and to apply them to various areas, like Electronics, Communications, Signal processing, VLSI, Embedded systems etc., in the design and implementation of complex systems.
Problem-Solving Skills: An ability to solve complex Electronics and communication Engineering problems, using latest hardware and software tools, along with analytical skills to arrive cost effective and appropriate solutions.
An ability to become an entrepreneur or to contribute to industrial services and / or Govt. organizations in the field of Electronics and Communication Engg.

Faculty Development Programmes(FDP) Conducted:
A 3- day FDP on “Industrial IoT using LabVIEW” was conducted on 15-16th, Feb 2019. Mr. Manimaran Asaithambi Asst. Manager, VI Solutions, Bengaluru was the resource person. The event was coordinated by Prof. Nikhath Tabassum, Prof. Rashmi Rani S. Prof. Remya Ramesan, Prof. Abdul Azeez
2. A 3- day FDP on Wireless Communication on NS2 Tool was conducted on 29th-31st Jan 2018. Mr. Nitin, Design Engineer from Impulse system was the resource person. Prof. Sumaiya Fathima, Prof. Nazneen MG, Prof. Subiya Yaseen, Coordinated the event
An Orientation Program was conducted on 7th August 2017, for the 1st semester students. The HOD and the faculty addressed the students and congratulated them for Joining Engineering course and motivated them to perform better.
Fresher’s Day and Ethnic day was organized for the students. The students participated in the different events with a lot of enthusiasm.

Student Development Programmes(SDP) Conducted:
A Three Days SDP on “Computer Networks and its Applications” was organized by the department in association with Jetking, Bangalore from 13th-15th feb-2019. Mrs. Sushma ,Technical trainer-Jetking was the resource person. 47 students of 6th semester B-section participated in this event. Prof. Zahira Tabassum, Prof. Husna Mohammadi, Prof. Sufia Banu and Prof. Khamer Fathima were the coordinators.
A Three Days SDP on “Industrial automation and IoT” was organized by the department in association with AGIIT, Bangalore from 19th-21st feb-2019. Mr.Asuvathaman and Mr. Bairam Sunil were the resource persons. 69 students of 4th semester participated in this event. Dr. Maaz Ahmed, prof. Naazneen MG, Prof. Mohammed Jebran and Prof. Shireen Fathima were the coordinators.
Hybrid Mobile APP Development, 26th&27th Feb 2018 HKBK College Of Engineering
A Two Days SDP on “Hybrid Mobile APP Development” was organized by the department on 26th & 27th Feb 2018. Prof. Zahira Tabassum and Prof. Sufia Banu were the resource persons.
A Two Days FDP on “Research Methodologies, Incubation & Patenting” was conducted from 29th to 30th June 2017, in Association with IETE, Bangalore. Dr. Vaibhav A Meshram, Professor, Dayanada Sagar University, Dr. Pritam Gajakumar Shah Research Head, Jain University, Dr.Suma V, Dean and Research Head, Dayananda Sagar College of Engineering, were the resource persons for the event.
An Extended Lecture on “Awareness about Overseas Opportunities and Higher Education & Preparation for GATE, IELTS, GRE, TOEFEL” was organized on 28th April, 2017, for VI & VIII Semester students by Mr. Bhanu Prakash, Country Head, Global Tree.
Mr.Karthik John Babu, an Alumni Member conducted an Industry Interaction program on OFFSHORE for the 5th Semester Students on 6 th August 2016. He inspired the students and gave them an insight into their career prospects.

An Industrial visit to BHEL was arranged on 31/10/17 for VII semester students.
Our final Year students participated and secured second prize at the Project Exhibition cum competition conducted by VTU at the university campus. The title of the project “ Non Invasive detection of Blood glucose cholesterol level using infra red light”. More than 200 Projects were exhibited and our students won cash prize of Rs 15000 /-.
